Primers
Primer consumption calculator
Coverage for deep-penetrating primer and for 1:4 and 1:10 concentrates, by substrate area and the working-solution consumption rate.
Calculation data
Pick a product and the calculator accounts for the concentrate dilution from the manufacturer figures. Or enter your own rate.
Formula
- Working solution = area in m² × consumption per m².
- Concentrate = solution / (1 + water share). For 1:10 that is solution / 11.
- With a margin: concentrate × (1 + margin / 100).
What to consider
- Dry, porous substrates soak up twice as much: aerated concrete and old plaster take two passes.
- Apply the second coat only after the first has been fully absorbed.
- For a concentrate, count the concentrate volume, not the ready solution.
Calculation questions
How much 1:10 concentrate does 100 m² need?
At 0.1 l/m² of working solution you need 10 l of solution, i.e. under 1 l of concentrate: a single 1 l canister covers the whole area.
What is the difference between 1:4 and 1:10 concentrates?
The dilution: 1 l of a 1:10 concentrate makes 11 l of solution, a 1:4 one makes 5 l. That makes 1:10 cheaper over large areas.
