AKRILBET by POLIFARB is a solvent-borne paint for concrete and mineral surfaces, industrial floors and car parks.
What ordinary floor paints lack. The quartz filler does two jobs at once: it resists abrasion and it makes the surface non-slip. On a ramp or a warehouse aisle the second matters as much as the first: a wet painted floor without filler is an ice rink.
The film takes impact and mechanical load, and is intended for surfaces under heavy use: production halls, warehouses, shops, garages, car parks and reinforced concrete structures.
With 1.5 hours between coats, two coats fit into one working day. The floor can be put into service 72 hours after application.
The film withstands detergents and disinfectants, water, salts and lubricants: a food warehouse, a garage taking in road salt all winter, or a shop floor washed daily.
Strong adhesion to concrete, cement, fibre cement, brick and reinforced concrete.
Thin with solvent naphtha. Two coats, undiluted, at 120–160 g/m² per coat on new surfaces and 180–250 g/m² on old ones, drying in up to 1.5 hours. Roller or brush, at air and substrate temperature of +5…+30 °C and relative humidity up to 60%. New concrete can be painted after 3–4 weeks, with substrate moisture no higher than 4%; screeds are sanded and dust removed. Prime with GRUNTFASAD or, on first-time painting, with the paint itself thinned 20% with solvent naphtha. White and grey, 3 and 12 kg, 18-month shelf life. The paint is flammable: ventilate and keep away from open flame.
How much you need
140 g/m² per coat over two coats: about 280 g/m² in total.
2.8 kg covers about 10 m²: a single garage;
12 kg covers about 43 m²: a double garage or a small store.
Typical areas:
a 6×4 m garage, 24 m²: 7 kg;
a 10×15 m warehouse, 150 m²: 42 kg;
a 3×8 m ramp, 24 m²: 7 kg;
a 200 m² shop floor: 56 kg.
Rough concrete takes more. A fresh power-floated screed sits at the lower 120 g/m²; an old pitted floor at 160 g/m² and above. Priming first cuts consumption and evens out absorbency.
Application
Preparation is half the job
let concrete cure: 28 days minimum for a new screed;
grind off laitance; no paint holds on it;
repair pits and cracks;
degrease oil stains and vacuum the dust.
Application
stir; thin with solvent naphtha if needed;
roll with a long handle, cut in with a brush, or spray;
a slightly thinner first coat works as a primer;
second coat after 1.5 hours, at right angles.
Conditions
ventilate: it is solvent-borne;
remove sources of flame;
never paint damp concrete: trapped moisture lifts the film.
Putting it back in service
foot traffic once the second coat is fully dry;
vehicles only after a few days;
clean tools with solvent naphtha;
18-month shelf life.
FAQ: slipping, new screeds and coverage
Will the floor be slippery?
No. The quartz filler is there to prevent both abrasion and slipping.
When can a new screed be painted?
Not before 28 days, and only after grinding off the laitance.
How much for a 6×4 m garage?
24 m² needs about 7 kg in two coats.
Can cars drive on it?
Yes; it is made for car parks and industrial floors. Allow a few days before vehicle traffic.
Thinner?
Solvent naphtha; it does not thin with water, and the room must be ventilated.
