DEKOMAL PF-266 is an alkyd enamel for decorative and protective painting of wooden floors indoors, previously painted or new.
A floor is about abrasion, not weather. Ordinary PF-115 is designed mainly for weather exposure, while PF-266 is formulated for the other load: a harder film with better wear resistance, so no traffic pattern appears where people walk every day.
The second difference is resistance to cleaning agents. Floors are not washed with water but with chemicals, and it is the chemicals that eat an ordinary enamel: the coating clouds over and starts flaking in the corners. Here that is built into the formulation.
High-traffic premises: schools, hospitals, offices. Also houses and summer homes: anywhere there is a wooden floor easier to paint than to relay.
80–130 g/m² per coat, depending on the substrate, application method and colour. One or two coats on painted surfaces, two coats on new ones. Bare timber is first primed with one coat of clear Drevozahyst alkyd impregnation or drying oil and left for at least 24 hours.
Two classic shades, red-brown and yellow-brown. Apply the second coat once the first is fully dry (no more than 24 hours); the floor can be used after 7 days. Air and substrate +5 to +30 °C, humidity no more than 60%. Thinned with white spirit, solvent or a 1:1 mix, no more than 10% by volume. Packed in 0.9 kg, 2.7 kg and 22 kg; shelf life 24 months.
How much you need
140 g/m² per coat over two coats: 280 g/m² in total.
900 g covers about 3 m²: a pantry or porch;
2.7 kg covers about 10 m²: one room;
22 kg covers about 78 m²: the floor of a flat or a classroom.
Application
Preparing the surface
strip metal of rust and scale, sand timber;
remove flaking old coating;
degrease with white spirit;
prime the surface: the enamel is meant for primed substrates.
Thinning
thin with white spirit, solvent or a 1:1 mix if needed;
more for spraying, barely any for brushwork;
stir thoroughly before use.
Application
apply by brush, roller or spray;
1–2 coats; on new timber the second is essential;
a coat takes up to 24 hours: do not walk on it for a day after the last one.
After the job
clean tools with solvent straight away;
store tightly closed away from flame;
shelf life 24 months.
FAQ: wear, cleaning and drying
How does it differ from PF-115?
PF-266 is made for interior wooden floors, with higher wear resistance and resistance to detergents. The PF-115 data sheet recommends it for wood and metal, including outdoors, and does not list floors.
Can it go over old paint?
Yes, the enamel is also meant for painted floors. A sound old coating is washed with detergent and flaking areas are removed. Painted surfaces need 1–2 coats.
When can the floor be walked on?
The second coat goes on once the first is fully dry, within 24 hours. The data sheet allows the floor to be used after 7 days.
Will it work on a concrete floor?
No, the enamel is designed for wood. For concrete floors there is AKRYLBET.
Can a wooden floor be painted with epoxy paint?
POLIFARB does not make an epoxy paint. For interior wooden floors there is PF-266 enamel, which is wear-resistant and stands up to washing with detergents.
What primes a bare wooden floor?
One coat of colourless DREVOZAKHYST IMPREGNAT or drying oil. The enamel goes on no sooner than 24 hours later, in 2 coats on a new floor.
How much enamel for an 18 m² room?
Coverage is 80–130 g/m² per coat, so two coats take 2.9–4.7 kg. Two 2.7 kg tins are enough.
