Description

EXTRAMAL PF-266 is an alkyd enamel for decorative and protective painting of wooden floors indoors, previously painted or new.

A floor enamel, not a general-purpose one

The formulation is built for abrasion: the film is harder than PF-115 and does not wear into tracks where people walk daily. A general-purpose enamel on a floor looks fine right up to the first winter of outdoor shoes.

Resistance to cleaning agents

Floors are washed with chemicals, and chemicals are what destroy an ordinary enamel: the surface clouds, then flakes in the corners and under furniture. This one is made for regular washing with detergent, not just water.

Where it is used

High-traffic premises (schools, hospitals, offices) as well as houses and summer homes with wooden floors.

The highest consumption in the range

160–220 g/m² per coat. More than DEKOMAL PF-266 at 80–130 and far more than wall enamels. A floor coating only works as a thick film; a thin one wears through whatever it is made of.

Colour, drying and storage

Two shades, red-brown and yellow-brown. One or two coats on painted surfaces, two on new ones; bare timber is first primed with clear Drevozahyst impregnation or drying oil and left for at least 24 hours. Apply the second coat once the first is fully dry (no more than 24 hours); the floor can be used after 7 days. Air and substrate +5 to +30 °C, humidity no more than 60%. Thinned with white spirit, solvent or a 1:1 mix, no more than 10% by volume; shelf life 18 months.

How much you need

190 g/m² per coat over two coats: 380 g/m² in total.

  • 900 g covers about 2.4 m²: a porch or pantry;

  • 2.8 kg covers about 7 m²: a small room;

  • 22 kg covers about 58 m²: the floor of a flat.

Application

Preparing the surface

  • strip metal of rust and scale, sand timber;

  • remove flaking old coating;

  • degrease with white spirit;

  • prime the surface: the enamel is meant for primed substrates.

Thinning

  • thin with white spirit, solvent or a 1:1 mix if needed;

  • stir thoroughly before use.

Application

  • apply by brush, roller or spray;

  • 1–2 coats; on new timber the second is essential;

  • a coat takes up to 24 hours: do not walk on it for a day after the last one.

After the job

  • clean tools with solvent straight away;

  • store tightly closed away from flame;

  • shelf life 18 months.

FAQ: wear, consumption and drying

  • How does it differ from DEKOMAL PF-266?
    In protection life and coverage: over 4 years against over 5 for DEKOMAL, and 160–220 g/m² per coat against 80–130 g/m². Both are meant for the same job.

  • Can a floor be painted with ordinary PF-115?
    The PF-115 data sheet does not list floors. For interior wooden floors use PF-266, which is wear-resistant and resists detergents.

  • When can the floor be walked on?
    The second coat goes on once the first is fully dry, within 24 hours. The data sheet allows the floor to be used after 7 days.

  • Can a wooden floor be painted with epoxy paint?
    POLIFARB does not make an epoxy paint. For interior wooden floors there is PF-266 enamel, which is wear-resistant and stands up to washing with detergents.

  • What primes a bare wooden floor?
    One coat of colourless DREVOZAKHYST IMPREGNAT or drying oil. The enamel goes on no sooner than 24 hours later, in 2 coats on a new floor.

  • How much enamel for an 18 m² room?
    Coverage is 160–220 g/m² per coat, so two coats take 5.8–7.9 kg: three 2.8 kg tins.

  • Can it go over old paint?
    Yes, the enamel is also meant for painted floors. Wash a sound coating with detergent, remove flaking areas and apply 1–2 coats over paint.
