Foam cleaner is a professional multi-purpose product for cleaning polyurethane foam guns.
Fresh foam only
It dissolves uncured residues of polyurethane foams and adhesives. Cured foam is immune and must be removed mechanically, so a can of cleaner is not a way to fix mistakes. It is part of the routine, used immediately.
The gun costs more than the can
That is the whole reason to buy it. Foam that sets inside a gun finishes the tool: neither the barrel nor the valve can be cleared. Flushing before removing a can is a step you skip once, then buy a new gun.
Degreasing metal
An often-missed second use: it is recommended for degreasing metal before work, replacing a separate degreaser before bonding, sealing or painting.
Manual cleaning
The nozzle also delivers liquid to a point, lifting fresh splashes off frames, sills and tile before they skin.
Composition and safety
A clear flammable butyl-acetate liquid, density 0.791 g/cm³, classed as low-toxicity (hazard class 4). Ventilate and keep away from open flame.
Conditions and storage
Use between -10 and +30 °C. Store closed at 0 to +25 °C; shelf life 12 months: half that of the foams, so there is no point stockpiling it. 500 ml.
How much you need
A 500 ml can covers roughly 8–12 gun flushes.
- one flush after a shift: 30–50 ml;
- one can: a season for a private user;
- a crew fitting windows daily: one can per week or two.
Simpler than arithmetic: buy it with your first can of professional foam and keep it next to the gun. A foam can without a cleaner is a single-use gun.
Shelf life is 12 months, so there is no point buying spares.
Application
Flushing a gun
- remove the foam can;
- fit the cleaner can;
- pull the trigger until clear liquid comes through;
- leave a little in the barrel and remove the can.
When to flush
- before every foam-can removal;
- if the gun will sit empty for more than an hour;
- not at all while a foam can stays fitted: it keeps for weeks that way.
Cleaning surfaces
- fit the spray nozzle;
- wet the fresh splash and wipe;
- test on painted or plastic surfaces first: butyl acetate attacks some finishes.
Safety
- ventilate;
- keep away from flame and sparks: it is flammable;
- store below +25 °C;
- 12-month shelf life.
