POLIFARB DIAMOND 15 is an acrylic latex paint with a silk finish for interior walls and ceilings. It goes over cement and cement-lime plasters, plasterboard, paper and fibreglass wallpaper, wood, porous and textured surfaces, and metal primed with an anti-corrosion primer.
Fifteen is the highest sheen of the three interior DIAMOND paints. The film comes out the densest and smoothest, so dirt barely takes hold: a shoe scuff in the hallway or splashes above a sink wipe off with a damp cloth. The silk sheen lifts the colour: saturated shades read deeper than they do on matt.
The flip side of that sheen is that it shows the geometry of the wall. Everything DIAMOND 2 forgives (trowel marks, plaster waves, filler steps) becomes visible on a silk surface in raking light. So 15 belongs on a levelled, filled substrate. If the wall is not perfect but you still want sheen, DIAMOND 7 with its satin effect is the sensible compromise.
Hallways and entrance areas, kitchens, children’s rooms, schools, offices, hotels, retail floors: rooms where the wall is washed often and the finish is expected to look cared for. Wet-scrub resistance is class 1, the highest of five. The manufacturer recommends it for high-traffic rooms, children’s rooms and schools. The painted surface can be washed no earlier than 7 days after application.
Class 1 hiding power and the paint’s density often make a single coat enough over a prepared substrate; a second goes on for a flawless finish, and on a silk surface that shows. Allow 2 hours between coats; consumption per coat is 100–150 g/m² on non-absorbent substrates and 150–190 g/m² on absorbent ones. The paint is white, and a transparent base (TR) is also available; shades are mixed in POLIFARB Color System or with COLOR MIX pastes. Tint the whole quantity at once: on a glossier surface a batch-to-batch difference stands out more than on matt.
Interior use only, not for facades. Bathrooms are fine, but not areas of direct water contact: the shower zone and the wall right against the bath. Fresh plaster can be painted only after 3–4 weeks, concrete after a month; apply at +5 to +30 °C. The other substrate requirements are in the Application block below; for this sheen it also needs extra levelling.
How much you need
The tin states 13, 38 and 125 m². That is one coat at the minimum 100 g/m². The figures below are for two coats at 125 g/m².
Area × 125 g/m² × 2 coats = 250 g/m². If the substrate is prepared and one coat is enough, halve the result.
1.3 kg covers about 5.2 m²: an accent patch, a niche, a test area by the switches;
3.8 kg covers about 15 m²: an entrance hall or one living-room wall;
12.5 kg covers about 50 m²: a hallway with a turn plus the adjoining room.
Application
Preparing the substrate
the substrate is dry, sound and clean: free of dust, grease, chalk and flaking coatings;
old chalk whitewash and glue-bound paints are removed completely;
fresh plaster or filler needs at least 28 days to dry and carbonate;
glossy or soiled surfaces are degreased and lightly sanded to a matt key;
porous and highly absorbent substrates are primed: GRUNT KONCENTRATE 1:4 or PROFI GRUNT.
Thinning
first coat: thin with clean water by up to 5–10 %;
further coats: up to 5 %, or apply unthinned;
stir with a drill and paddle at low revs.
Application conditions
air, substrate and paint temperature: +10…+30 °C;
relative humidity: 80 % or below;
do not apply in direct sun, on hot surfaces, in strong wind or draughts.
Tools
roller with 8–12 mm nap for smooth substrates, 12–18 mm for textured;
brush with synthetic bristles;
spray gun: 150–200 bar, nozzle 0.015–0.019".
Coats and drying
1–2 coats: one is often enough over a prepared substrate, the second evens out the sheen;
tack-free: 1–2 hours;
between coats: 2–4 hours;
fully dry: 24 hours;
full resistance to wet cleaning builds over 7–28 days: leave the wall unwashed for the first month.
After the job
rinse tools with water straight away, before the paint dries;
store tightly closed at +5…+30 °C, do not freeze.
Drying times are given for +20 °C and 50–65 % humidity.
FAQ: sheen, substrate and care
Will the sheen show wall imperfections?
Yes, in raking light. A substrate for 15 should be filled and levelled; where that is not possible, choose DIAMOND 7 or DIAMOND 2.
Is one coat enough?
Over a prepared, primed substrate it often is. A second coat evens out the sheen, and on a silk surface that difference shows.
When can the wall first be washed?
The film reaches full resistance over 7–28 days. Keep to dry dusting for the first month.
How much paint for a 12 m² hallway?
Walls 2.7 m high less the door come to about 32 m². Two coats need ~8 kg: one 12.5 kg tub with a margin, or 3.8 + 3.8 + 1.3 kg.
How does 15 differ from 7?
Only in sheen: 15 is silk, 7 is satin matt. Consumption and the wash and hiding classes are identical.
