Description

SNEZINKA is a water-dispersion acrylic paint from the STANDARD line for interior ceilings and walls. It is intended above all for concrete and plastered surfaces, and also goes over filler, brick, gypsum and wooden substrates.

A whiteness that does not yellow

The whiteness itself is this paint's main property. The coating comes out brilliantly white and does not yellow with age, so the ceiling looks the same years later as it did after the job. In a room with small windows that works as lighting: a white matt ceiling returns light to the room instead of swallowing it.

Why a ceiling in particular

Deep matt at sheen level 2 gives no reflection at all, which matters most on a ceiling: any gloss there lights up trowel marks and dips in the plane under side light from a window. The coating is vapour-permeable, so the ceiling breathes, and hairline cracks are masked.

Durability and care

The coating resists dry scrubbing. This is a paint for surfaces that are not washed: a ceiling gets brushed down or wiped with a barely damp cloth. For walls that need washing, choose a coating with a wet-cleaning class.

What jobs it is for

First-time and restoration painting alike, in new build and in the home. Most often it refreshes flat ceilings after limewash: the old chalk comes off, the substrate is primed with GRUNT EKO, PROFI GRUNT or GRUNT CONCENTRATE 1:4, and two coats give an even white with no banding. It also suits walls in rooms that are not washed.

Consumption

220–270 g/m² per coat on non-absorbent substrates and 260–300 g/m² on absorbent ones: the highest of the POLIFARB interior paints. Hiding power class 4 to DSTU EN 13300. Work out the volume in advance so you are not buying another tub halfway through.

Limitations and shelf life

Interior use only. Not for areas of direct water contact. Fresh plaster can be painted after 3–4 weeks, concrete after a month. Apply in 2 coats with 2 hours between coats at +5…+30 °C (optimum +18…+25 °C at humidity up to 60%). Tinted to pastel shades with COLOR MIX pigment pastes by POLIFARB. Shelf life is 12 months.

How much you need

The tin states 60 m² for 12.5 kg. That is one coat. The figures below are for two coats at 245 g/m².

  • 1.3 kg covers about 2.7 m²: touch-ups;

  • 3.8 kg covers about 8 m²: a bathroom or pantry ceiling;

  • 6.5 kg covers about 13 m²: a room ceiling;

  • 12.5 kg covers about 25 m²: ceilings in two rooms.

Application

Preparing the substrate

  • the substrate is dry, clean and sound: free of dust, grease and flaking coatings;

  • old chalk, whitewash and glue-bound paints are removed completely;

  • fresh plaster needs at least 28 days;

  • plasterboard joints are filled;

  • absorbent and chalky substrates are primed: GRUNT EKO.

Thinning

  • usually unnecessary: the paint is ready after stirring;

  • if needed, up to 5–10 % water for the first coat or for spraying;

  • stir with a drill and paddle at low revs.

Application conditions

  • air, substrate and paint temperature: +5…+30 °C;

  • humidity 80 % or below;

  • do not apply in sun, on hot surfaces, in wind or draughts.

Tools

  • a roller is the main tool;

  • a brush for corners and abutments;

  • a spray gun for large areas.

Coats and drying

  • 2 coats; a dark or patchy substrate may need a third;

  • a coat dries in up to 2 hours, with 1–2 hours between coats;

  • fully dry: 24 hours;

  • the coating reaches full resistance over 7–28 days: leave the surface unwashed for the first month.

After the job

  • rinse tools with water straight away;

  • store tightly closed at +5…+30 °C, do not freeze.

FAQ: ceilings, whiteness and consumption

  • How much paint for an 18 m² ceiling?
    Two coats need ~9 kg: a 6.5 kg tub plus a 3.8 kg one, or a single 12.5 kg with a margin.

  • Will the ceiling yellow above a hob?
    The paint is declared non-yellowing over time. It does not repel kitchen soot, though: a hob needs an extractor.

  • Why is consumption higher than other paints?
    Because of the high white-pigment content that produces the opaque whiteness. Less material means less whiteness.

  • Can the ceiling be washed?
    Brushed down or wiped with a barely damp cloth. The stated figure is 500 dry-scrub cycles; it is not meant for washing with detergent.

  • Is it suitable for walls?
    Yes, for walls in rooms that are not washed. Hallways and kitchen walls call for a paint with a wash class.
