EXTRAMAL GF-021 is an alkyd anti-corrosion primer used as a keying and anti-corrosion layer for spot or full priming of metal.
This is the answer for gates, railings, grilles, yard equipment and other metal. Coating systems built on it resist weathering in urban and industrial atmospheres.
Strong adhesion to the substrate, elasticity together with strength and hardness, resistance to salt solutions, mineral oils and temperature swings. Coating systems built on it work outdoors and indoors alike.
A primed surface absorbs evenly and has a uniform tone, so less finish enamel is used. Primer costs less than enamel, and that difference works in favour of the whole coating budget.
A coat takes up to 12 hours. That is the practical difference from DEKOMAL GF-021 and its six: priming and painting fall on two separate days. On a tight schedule the saving on primer may not repay the lost day.
Galvanised steel (profiled sheet, roofs, gutters, flashings) is not painted directly: it is degreased and given 1 coat of EXTRAMAL GF-021. Once the primer is dry, it is topcoated with RUBBER FARBA rubber paint, PF-115 alkyd enamel or DEKOLUX. ZAKHYST 3 in 1 is not suitable for galvanised steel.
Before priming, clean the metal thoroughly of dirt, rust, mill scale and oils, sand and degrease it; prime immediately after removing rust. 1–2 coats, 80–120 g/m². If needed, thin with white spirit, solvent or a 1:1 mix, no more than 10% by volume. Air and substrate +5 to +30 °C, humidity no more than 60%. Clean tools with solvent. Packed in 0.9 kg, 2.8 kg and 22 kg. Colours: red-brown and grey. Declared protection over 4 years; shelf life 12 months: the shortest in the range, so buying ahead is a bad idea.

How does it differ from DEKOMAL GF-021?
It dries in 12 hours against 6, lasts over 4 years against over 5, and uses 80–120 against 60–100 g/m². Cheaper per tin, dearer per square metre.
Why only 12 months of shelf life?
That is the manufacturer's figure. Primer that has stood longer should not be used.
Can any enamel go over it?
Alkyd PF enamels, yes. That is the standard system. Check compatibility for nitro and other formulations.
How much for a 3×2 m gate?
Both sides come to 12 m²; one coat needs about 1.2 kg.
Is a primer needed if the enamel is "3 in 1"?
No. The rust converter and primer are already in it.
