How to properly apply Polifarb (Lacrysil) Acrylic Adhesive "Liquid Nails" — a universal water-based acrylic mounting adhesive (also known as "Жидкие гвозди" or "Liquid Nails").
This is a ready-to-use, solvent-free acrylic dispersion-based adhesive designed for strong, fast bonding without traditional fasteners like nails or screws. Available in white and transparent versions. It provides excellent initial grab and is suitable for interior and exterior repair and mounting work.
Surface Preparation (very important!)
Surfaces must be clean, dry, dust-free, grease-free, and free of loose particles.
Remove old paint, dust, oil, or dirt. Degrease if necessary (use white spirit, acetone, or alcohol for non-porous surfaces).
Porous surfaces (concrete, brick, plaster): lightly moisten if very dry to prevent too rapid water absorption from the adhesive.
Non-porous surfaces (metal, glass, plastic, ceramic): ensure good degreasing for maximum adhesion.
Do not apply to wet, frozen, heavily contaminated, polyethylene, polypropylene, or Teflon surfaces (poor adhesion).
Test adhesion on questionable materials (e.g., some plastics, painted surfaces).
Application — step by step
Stir the adhesive thoroughly in the tube/can before use (if needed — some batches are ready).
Cut the nozzle of the cartridge at an angle to get the desired bead size.
Apply using a standard caulking gun (manual or pneumatic).
Application patterns:
Zigzag / wavy line
Dot application (for small or lightweight elements)
Continuous bead along the perimeter and center (for panels, baseboards, etc.)
Immediately press the element firmly to the surface (strong initial tack allows temporary holding).
For heavy items: support/fix temporarily with tape, props, or temporary fasteners for 24–48 hours until full cure.
Clean excess adhesive immediately with a damp cloth (before it skins over).
Drying and curing time (at +20 °C and ~60% humidity)
Initial grab / skin formation → 10–30 minutes (depending on bead thickness and humidity)
Full curing → 24–48 hours (thicker layers take longer)
Maximum strength → after 7 days
Consumption
Approximately 150–300 g/m² or one 280–400 ml cartridge covers 8–12 linear meters of 5–6 mm bead (varies by application pattern and surface).
Application conditions
Temperature of air, surfaces, and adhesive: +5…+35 °C
Air humidity: not higher than 80% during application and initial curing
Avoid application in direct rain, strong wind, or freezing conditions
Protect fresh bonds from water and mechanical stress for at least 24 hours
After work
Clean tools and hands immediately with warm soapy water (while wet).
Dried adhesive: remove mechanically (scraper, knife) or with solvents (acetone, white spirit — test first).
Useful tips
Best for bonding: wood (all types), chipboard, MDF, laminate, parquet, linoleum, carpet, polystyrene foam, cork, drywall, baseboards, decorative panels, mirrors (on suitable primer), ceramics, brick, concrete, metal, PVC profiles, etc.
Not suitable for constant water immersion, aquariums, or highly flexible/vibrating joints.
Transparent version is ideal for visible joints or glass/acrylic bonding.
For exterior use: ensure surfaces are protected from direct prolonged rain during curing.
After full cure: paintable with water-based paints (test compatibility).
Service temperature of cured bond: from -40 to +80 °C (some sources up to +100 °C).
If bonding very absorbent or very smooth surfaces — always do a small test area first. Strong bonds — happy mounting!
