Description

LA CRYSTAL is a ready-to-use one-component acrylic assembly adhesive: clear, for joints that stay in sight.

Clear by the pail, not the tube

Clear assembly adhesives normally come in 150–280 g tubes for small jobs. This one is packed in 1, 2.5 and 5 kg pails for area work, where a white adhesive would inevitably show at a seam.

General purpose

Skirting, thresholds, panels, mouldings, trim, plasterboard, OSB, laminate, vinyl, ceramic tile, metal profiles, sills and shelving: onto concrete, brick, metal, timber, PVC, plasterboard, OSB, ceramics, glass and plastic.

Zero slip

Thixotropic, so parts stay put on walls and ceilings; heavy items still want an hour or two of support.

Solvent-free

Water-based, low odour, washes off while fresh, and safe on polystyrene.

Conditions and limits

Apply at +5 to +35 °C, service -40 to +80 °C, full cure 24–48 hours, 0.25–0.5 kg/m². 18-month shelf life. Not for permanent water contact. For two non-porous faces use an MS-polymer adhesive sealant instead.

How much you need

0.25–0.5 kg/m²: spots at the lower figure, a full bed at the upper.

  • 1 kg covers about 3 m² solid, or 8–10 m² spotted;
  • 2.5 kg covers about 7 m²;
  • 5 kg covers about 14 m²: a whole room clad.

For trim, count metres: 1 kg gives about 60 m of Ø3 mm bead.

Application

Preparation

  • clean off dust, grease, old paint and limewash;
  • consolidate weak substrates with a deep primer;
  • degrease smooth non-porous faces.

Application

  • light items: Ø20 mm spots on a 150×150 mm grid;
  • trim: a continuous Ø3 mm bead;
  • panels: a full 1 mm bed with a notched trowel;
  • heavy parts: spots over the whole area, corners included.

Fixing

  • press home and wipe squeeze-out at once;
  • support heavy vertical items for 1–2 hours;
  • full cure 24–48 hours.

Afterwards

  • wash tools with water;
  • seal the pail, do not freeze;
  • 18-month shelf life.

FAQ: clear or white, consumption, substrates

  • Why clear rather than white?
    Because the joint shows: pale panels, glass, unmasked seams.

  • Versus Crazy Grip?
    The clear joint and the pack sizes; otherwise they are close products.

  • Glass to metal?
    It holds, but cures very slowly between two non-porous faces: use an MS-polymer product.

  • How much for a panelled room?
    A 3×2.5 m wall is 7.5 m² needs about 3 kg spread solid.

  • Bathrooms?
    Yes in a damp room, but not where water sits.
